Term 2, Week 4

Happy birthday and welcome to Room 14 Leona and Ryder.  We are loving having you both in our class.

We have had another great week of Investigations.  Here are just a few things we have been doing and learning.

As part of Investigation time the children get to sit on the 'share chair' and Tune In and Reflect on their learning.  The Room 14 students are getting very good at talking about their learning both the process and the products.
We have continued to learn about shapes as part of our maths.  On Tuesday we made some collage pictures using shapes.  Here are just a few of our wonderful creations.

Here are a couple of 14's favourite shape songs.  Warning - the songs maybe stuck in your head for days!
On Wednesday morning the Rainbow and Sunshine team were very lucky to have two actors come in and perform "What's the big idea?" show.
An Ogre has invaded the local town and young Tilly, despite her best efforts, is unable to do anything to help get rid of it.  Her friend Wayne has gone into hiding and if ever a hero was needed to come to the rescue, this was the time. However heroes come in different shapes and sizes and the job falls upon the shoulders of the local librarian Mr Kent to come to the rescue of Tilly and the townsfolk by using the town’s greatest resources – its books!

What’s The Big Idea is a modern day fable that references classic traditional storytelling to create a brand new musical filled with adventure, audience participation and of course the best in contemporary New Zealand children’s books

We had another fantastic week of swimming lessons this week.  We are so lucky to have the EasySwim teachers at our school.
For Friday arts we also made some amazing shape art pictures.  We carefully drew shapes of different sizes and then coloured them with pastel and dyed them.  We have joined them together to make a quilt.  Come and see it in our millennium space.
