Term 4, Week 2

We have had a great week of learning in Room 14.

On Tuesday we used the whiteboards to help with our writing.
Some of us worked on our handwriting letters and shapes using the ant story.
Some of us wrote silly sentences using rhyming word families.

We also continued using our motor skills and strength during another wonderful PMP session.
We have had great fun with Investigations this week.  Some of the things we have enjoyed have been making marble runs in the outside area, making puppets and performing puppet shows and exploring measurement with our water beads.
The children in Room 14 have been blowing us away with their amazing maths skills this week.  We have been using our counting all strategy to solve addition problems using a variety of equipment.
On Friday, we had a maths focus of learning our doubles facts to 10.
We represented these facts in an art activity with ladybugs.
The Room 14 students are awesome at their doubles facts.
You might like to enjoy  our doubles facts song with the children at home.

Term 4 Week 1

This week we welcomed ten new superstars to Room 14.
All our new students have fitted into our class so well and have had a great week of learning.
Welcome to Timothy, Kiera, Keziah, Mikayla,Caitlin, Bree, Austin, Zoe, Avee and Peter.
We have had some fun exploring measurement in different ways this week.
We have been measuring heights and lengths and also measuring ingredients to make some play dough for the classroom.
Our new students enjoyed their first swim in the school pool on Monday.  It was great to see so many children enjoying the water and gaining water confidence ready for summer.
On Tuesday we enjoyed a fun PMP session exploring the equipment and using our gross motor skills.
We have been very fortunate this week with the weather.  We have been able to spend time investigating outdoors.  We have used the chalk to make maths obstacle courses and hopscotches.  We have also helped out in the garden and found some interesting living creatures.
It was wonderful to have our new students welcomed to Tawa School with a powhiri on Thursday morning.  The older students at school helped their new friends.
We are learning about plants and growing this term.
On Friday we made a collage picture of a flower and labelled the different parts of a plant.
We are excited about doing some planting next week and watching our plants grow.
